Air Fryer Salmon

This is the weeknight dinner we come back to most. The air fryer keeps the outside seasoned and lightly crisp while the middle stays buttery, and clean-up is one basket.

Ingredients

  • 2 salmon fillets (about 6 oz each), skin on
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp fine sea salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 lemon, half juiced and half sliced
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh dill

Instructions

  1. 1

Pat the salmon dry and let it sit at room temperature for 10 minutes so it cooks evenly.

  2. 2

Rub the fillets with olive oil, then season all over with garlic powder, paprika, salt and pepper.

  3. 3

Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3 minutes.

  4. 4

Place the fillets skin side down in a single layer, leaving space between them.

  5. 5

Cook for 8 to 10 minutes, until the thickest part flakes easily and reads 125°F (52°C).

  6. 6

Finish with lemon juice, lemon slices and chopped dill, and rest 2 minutes before serving.

Cooking tips

  • Thin tail-end fillets cook 2 minutes faster, so start checking early.
  • Skip the foil liner: direct airflow is what gives the salmon its edges.
  • Leftovers are excellent cold, flaked over greens with a spoonful of yogurt dressing.
